I have a friend that believes almost everything she gets in email…everything she hears on the news, etc. Below are rumors and false statements about Sarah Palin. Please share them with your gullible friends too. Add rumors you have heard that you want sleuthed or that you have dispelled here in the comments.
|While trolling the net for rumors, I found this tidbit on another blog.”Talk of replacing Biden with Hillary must be under discussion. I just got a follow-up survey from –William Arnone Phone: 212-999-9999 asking me if I would change my mind about voting for McCain if Biden was replaced with Hillary.”** Editor Note: I removed the phone number in case this is not fact.||Does anyone know if this is true?|
|Sarah Palin sought to ban books in the Library while Mayor of Wasilla, AK||Per the City of Wasilla, AK – “We at the City of Wasilla have received many emails and requests for information about “banned or censored” books at the Wasilla Library while former Mayor Palin was in office. We have no records of any books being “banned or censored” ever.” From 1986 to 2007 there were a total of 5 books challenged by “library patrons” but the name of the requesting cardholder was not released.
From Jeanne Troshynski – President Friends of Wasilla Library – “The Friends have received numerous media questions regarding the rumor that there was a list of books banned by Sarah Palin as mayor of Wasilla. I have researched all the archived Friends of Wasilla Library Board minutes from 1995-1998. I can find nothing to substantiate the theory that there was a list of books recommended to be banned by Sarah Palin.
As a Board, the Friends feel pretty passionately about the negatives of banning books. There does seem to have been some discussion about book selection and the challenge policy during the time period in question. It is my personal conclusion that the “banned list” rumor is just sensationalism.” Both of these official documents are posted on the City of Wasilla Website
|Wants to teach Creationism in Schools||‘…the great novelty of Ms Palin’s candidacy is that she is the first national nominee since William Jennings Bryan a century ago to be called a “creationist” – a disbeliever in the theory of evolution. This is unfair.
Those who describe Ms Palin one exchange during the Alaska governor’s race two years ago when she said she had no objection if teachers questioned Darwin. “I say this as the daughter of a science teacher,” she said. “Don’t be afraid of information, and let kids debate both sides.” She explicitly ruled out putting creationism on school curriculums.’ Financial Times – Christopher Caldwell
Editor musings: Is teaching folklore, myths and legends in Middle Schools introducing religion and possibly beliefs into our school system? At some point we need to stop being politically correct and use some common sense. Censorship is not a fundamental healthy behavior. I want my children informed so they are not lead astray. I don’t want any religion/doctrine taught in school but banning questions about it is like banning books. oops!
|Question from c. Gibson – 70% of Americans want to ban semi-automatic weapons, do you support that?|| No I will not.
Editor’s Musings: After talking to some girlfriends and knowing I know nothing about the classification of guns, I decided to do some investigation. I get sick of hearing…we will have AK 47’s in every house in America. This again is not rational thought or behavior. It is a case of alarmist and fear mongering tactics of a political era many claim they don’t to see repeated. Go do your own research and make an informed decision. See how your favorite politican voted on the Clinton Gun Ban. Do you agree or disagree?
